Program Description
The program will cover aspects of clinical competency in working with transgender clients, application of cultural competency and cultural humility to transgender-affirming care, use of appropriate language, APA and WPATH treatment guidelines, providing assessment and referral for medical affirmation, and ethical dilemmas in transgender-affirming care.
Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate their own competency in delivering transgender affirming care
- Employ cultural competency and cultural humility in providing transgender affirming care
- Implement the American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People in clinical practice
- Utilize the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Standards of Care 8 when providing assessment and writing referral letters for gender affirming medical care
- Summarize common ethical dilemmas in providing transgender affirming care
