Program Description

The program will cover aspects of clinical competency in working with transgender clients, application of cultural competency and cultural humility to transgender-affirming care, use of appropriate language, APA and WPATH treatment guidelines, providing assessment and referral for medical affirmation, and ethical dilemmas in transgender-affirming care.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Evaluate their own competency in delivering transgender affirming care
  2. Employ cultural competency and cultural humility in providing transgender affirming care
  3. Implement the American Psychological Association’s Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming People in clinical practice
  4. Utilize the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Standards of Care 8 when providing assessment and writing referral letters for gender affirming medical care
  5. Summarize common ethical dilemmas in providing transgender affirming care
